INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EXCITED STATE AROMATICITY AND ANTIAROMATICITY

July 30 - August 2 2019
AT SIGTUNASTIFTELSEN

Welcome!

Welcome to the first INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EXCITED STATE AROMATICITY AND ANTIAROMATICITY (ICESAA)!

We are pleased to announce the first International Conference on Excited State Aromaticity and Antiaromaticity (ICESAA 1), which will be held in Sigtuna, Sweden, from July 30 to August 2, 2019.

Excited state aromaticity and antiaromaticity have important roles for the improved understanding of photochemical reactions, and the concept bridge experimental and theoretical chemistry. In contrast to aromaticity in the electronic ground state, given by Hückel’s the 4n+2 rule, excited state aromaticity according to Baird’s rule is found in compounds with 4n π-electrons. However, the concept is still underexplored despite the increased attention.

The ICESAA conference will be devoted to fundamental aspects as well as to applications of the excited state aromaticity and antiaromaticity concepts. Yet, the conference also extends to studies of photophysical and photochemical properties and processes of molecules with aromatic chromophores in a broader sense and to studies of other forms of aromaticity in the electronic ground state, e.g., Möbius and spherical aromaticity.

The conference will take place at Sigtunastiftelsen (http://sigtunastiftelsen.se), in Sigtuna, a small historic town conveniently located only 17 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda international airport, Sweden.
